Healthy granola bowl ideas

A quick, healthy, and nutritious breakfast is a must for any busy person. But without time to cook, what are the options? Enter the versatile, delicious, and healthy granola bowl! At Oloaa, we love all things granola. You might even say we are a little obsessed! We thought we’d share some of our favourite recipes, tips, and granola bowl tricks to help elevate your next busy morning breakfast or on-the-go lunch!

Tips for Creating a Great Granola Bowl

Start by choosing granola to meet your health preferences. For example, are you looking for keto-friendly granola, paleo-friendly granola, gluten-free granola, granola with chocolate, or maybe even a mixed variety? The more variety, the better. Once you’ve selected your granola, it’s time to add your fruit.

When creating a granola bowl, you can set yourself up to get an assortment of vitamins and minerals by putting in various fruits. When adding fruit, we suggest creating a rainbow of colours. While this may mean adding less of each fruit, it will create more variety for taste and nutrition. Lastly, add some protein! Whether you opt for nuts, seeds, yogurt, or both, you’ll need plenty of protein to keep you energy high throughout the day.

Delicious topping ideas

There is no right or wrong way to create a granola bowl. Ultimately, it all comes down to personal preference. As a rule of thumb, reach for whole foods that are in season locally. For example, if it’s strawberry season, use them while they’re at their freshest! If you prefer a bit more texture or coldness, frozen fruits work too. Next, you’ll want to consider what pairs well with your fruit. We suggest adding your favorite flavours and what works best for your tastebuds.

Here are a few of our go-to topping/bowl ideas:

  • Fresh and frozen fruits: strawberries, blueberries, cherries, raspberries, bananas, etc.
  • Grains: quinoa, kamut, spelt, granola, etc.
  • Seeds – chia, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame seeds, etc.
  • Nuts: cashews, peanuts, pecans, etc.
  • Sweets: honey, maple syrup, chocolate chips, coconut shavings, etc.
  • Spice: cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, etc.

Recipe ideas for your next breakfast bowl

As previously mentioned, each granola bowl recipe can be altered to meet your dietary restrictions, and personal preferences. The possibilities are endless. It’s time to get creative in the kitchen!

Orange and Chocolate Granola Bowl: Mix yogurt with ¼ tsp, 1tbsp maple syrup, and 1 tbsp cocoa powder, and place it in the bottom of your bowl. Next, add granola, chocolate chips, sliced oranges, and pumpkin seeds in the amounts you desire and voila, breakfast is served!
